I'm not being negative, putting anyone down or being insulting to anybody. I'm telling it like it is. You just cannot handle the idea of having to come up with ideas all by yourself. What's the problem?

er????
so has no one got any ideas for me??
anyway continue to argue because its quite amusing.
IDEA'S PLEASE!!
All Im saying is: So what if people need ideas to get them started, there is no problem in that. Stop being so critical of something this petty. He didnt come and say,"I wanna make something with a lot of action and cool diologue!"
And i wont continue arguing, because its really pretty stupid and isnt worth any more time. We should be a little more supportive of each other instead bashing newcomers for such ridiculous things.
FFM: first you should decide what types of movies you are interested in, how long you'd like it to be and what you want to spend. The type of movie heavily influences length and cost. And realistically you cannot make a decent movie for 10 bucks. Especially one that you want to send to a competition. So before you can decide on an idea, you'll need to make up your mind about the above.

Good ideas take a long time to come but seem to appear out of thin air when they do. I do believe that you have to have a point to the story you are trying to tell.
I'm keeping the good ideas for myself thanks.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with asking for some help....
Ever heard of co-writers????
If the world of films was as Mr. N.Foster would like there would be only one credit at the end of the film would there not???
Everyone out there isn't an amazing writer....have you ever noticed that lots of films are written and directed by different people???? Why do you think that is??
Make movies however the hell you want to....don't listen to people that tell you to do things a certain way. That's the beauty of art is it not?? Do things how you see fit. If you need help with a story....by all means ask for it. Movie making is extremely complex and draining...if it's so easy to do it all yourself why is it that you see 100 credits at the end of a movie????
Mr. Foster needs to chill the hell out and respect the fact that anyone can make a movie however they want. Just because you have your ideals doesn't mean the whole world needs to live by them. RELAX.....HAVE A BEER....SMILE....EVERYTHING WILL BE OKAY.....
to future film man.....why not just cut a chunk out of one of your feature ideas and make it into a short....if you already have some decent ideas then use them...you can always remake it into a feature....Good Luck and Happy Shooting!!
tootaloo.
tash.
I think all this ranting shows that no-one knows what a good idea is.
FutureFilmMan: take an idea from something you care about, twist it a little add a little artistic license. Then see where the story takes you (in outline at least).
um, how's this for an idea:
The hero has to overcome an obstacle in order to complete his character arc.

I find originality in the way the same stale old ideas are executed on-screen.
Apparently Babe and [insert Stallone film that I can't remember the title of, but is set in a flaming sewer or something] share the same ideas, but are obviously executed totally differently. I wish Stallone could be executed (fictionally, of course!)
One of the best things I ever heard about ideas is that you should brainstorm a load of shit and then pick the idea that 'has legs' -- ie, has enough interest to you personally to carry it through to completion.
Better go before a buffer overrun.
First of all I just wanted to say that there's nothing wrong in asking people for ideas, help or advice - after all isn't that what the forum's set up for?
But I do think N. Foster Tyler touched on something. By all means use someone else's ideas but put your own spin on them. Be inspired by the ideas of other people and then take them in your own direction.
Now that I've had a little rant, how about looking at films that you thought were shit or that had a bad ending or that had an idea which you thought wasn't expressed properly - then do your film about that? Just a thought.
Ford Anglia.
There is nothing at all wrong with using someone else's ideas..........if they 'connect' with you on a certain level or levels. How often does that happen?
What FutureFilmMan did was blindly throw out a request for 'any' ideas that we might have. Anything at all. That shows a definate immaturity on his behalf as a filmmaker. It indicates that he is so desperate to make a film of his own, no matter what it's about........the problem is, he doesn't have any ideas. He's still asking.
Ideas are the easy part of filmmaking. They do not cost anything. Actully putting the movie together through rehearsals, shooting, cutting, music, sound design, distribution, etc, is the hard part.
Filmmaking is a day to day struggle. The least you can do for yourself is make a film that is important to you..........not just from any old idea in hopes that people will think you are cool.
